1947年東京大森生まれ。
71年、数万人の応募者から選ばれ作曲者としてポーランドの音楽祭に参加、世界を放浪後、音楽雑誌の編集スタッフとしても働き

75年ヤマハ音楽振興会の海外特派員として渡米。ニューヨークに滞在中、CBGBなどのニューヨークパンクロックシーンに刺激を受けて、2年半後帰国後、伝説のパンクムーブメント「TOKYO ROCKERS」を牽引。
アーティストとしてはデビュー·アルバム『魔都』(81年)、セカンドアルバム『ギャングバスターズ』 (83年)を経て、パンク、ファンク、ブガルー、レゲエなどをハイブリッドさせたs-ken & hot bombomsを結成、80年代のクラブシーンを代表するエポックなイベント“Tokyo Soy Source”に参加しつつ4枚のアルバムを発表。同時期、「異人都市 TOKYO」、 「PINHEAD」 などの作家・編集者として、「カメレオンナイト」、「ニポニーズナイト」などイベントプロデューサーとしても活動、東京のクラブシーンの創成期を活性化してきた。

91年以降は次第にレコード＆CDの音楽プロデューサーに専念、「JAZZ HIP JAP(UK クラブチャートイン )」、「東京ラテン宣言」、

クラムボン、SUPER BUTTER DOGから現在にいたるまで、プロデュース作品は109タイトルに及ぶ。
2017年、27年ぶりにアーティスト活動を復活、まずはソロアルバム『Tequila the Ripper』をリリース。レコーディングには細野晴臣 、トータス松本、東京スカパラダイスホーンズ、竹中直人など旧友から新世代まで34人ものミュージシャンが参加。
“ビルボードライブ東京”を皮切りに s-ken & hot bombomsのライヴも復活。2022にはs-ken & hot bomboms名義のニューアルバム『P.O. BOX 496』をリリース。2023年にはEGO-WRAPPIN'（エゴラッピン）の森雅樹らが参加した新ユニット、“s-ken & far east sessions”でのライヴ活動をスタートさせている。
また、2018年、自叙伝「S-KEN 回想録 1971-1991 都市から都市、そしてまたアクロバット」( 河出書房新社 ) を出版。同時に海外特派員時代の自ら撮ったパティースミスやラモーンズなどニューヨークパンク・ロックシーンを網羅した写真展「1977NYC EXPLOSION」も東京、大阪、京都にて開催。2023年には写真家・上出優之利による7年間、18000ショットものストリート・ポートレイトから厳選された写真集、「S-KEN Punk Old Dicks」（スーパーラボ）が出版されている。

S-KEN was born in Omori, Tokyo, in 1947.
In 1971, he was selected from tens of thousands of applicants to participate in the Poland Music Festival as a composer. After wandering the world, he worked as an editorial staff member for a music magazine. He moved to the United States to work as an overseas correspondent for the Yamaha Music Foundation in 1975. While he was in New York, he was inspired by the New York punk rock scene, such as CBGB. Then, after returning to Japan two and a half years later, he led the legendary punk movement “TOKYO ROCKERS.”

As an artist, after releasing his debut album 『Mato』 (1981), and second album 『Gang Busters』(1983), he formed the band “S-KEN & HOT BOMBOMS,” a hybrid of punk, funk, boogaloo, reggae, and more. The band has released four albums, while S-KEN participated in the epoch-making event movement “Tokyo Soy Source,” representing the club scene of the 1990s.

At the same time, he worked as a writer and editor for “Ijin Toshi TOKYO” and “PINHEAD,” as well as an event producer for “Chameleon Night” and “Niponese Night.” He invigorated the Tokyo club scene, which was still in its infancy at the time. Since 1991, he has gradually devoted himself to being a music producer for records and CDs. He has produced 109 titles from the “JAZZ HIP JAP Project (U.K. Club Chart Inn), ” “Tokyo Latin Declaration,” “Clammbon,” and “SUPER BUTTER DOG”.

In 2017, he revived his artistic activities for the first time in 27 years. He released his solo album 『Tequila the Ripper』 As many as 34 musicians participated in the recording, from his old friends to the new generation, including Haruomi Hosono, Tortoise Matsumoto, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Horns, and Naoto Takenaka.

Starting with “Billboard Live Tokyo,” his S-KEN & HOT BOMBOMS live shows are also back. In 2022, a new album, 『 P.O. BOX 496』, was released under the name of S-KEN & HOT BOMBOMS. In 2023, he will start live activities with a new unit, “s-ken & far east sessions,” which includes Masaki Mori of “EGO-WRAPPIN” and others.

In 2018, he published his autobiography “S-KEN Memoirs 1971-1991 From City to City and Also Acrobatics” (Kawade Shobō Shinsha., Ltd). At the same time, “1977NYC EXPLOSION,” a photo exhibition, was held in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. This photo exhibition covers the New York punk rock scene, including Patti Smith and the Ramones, and was taken by S-KEN himself as a foreign correspondent. In 2023, “S-KEN Punk Old Dicks” (Super Labo, by the private dealer Yasunori Hoki), a photo book, will be published which features photos selected from 18,000 street portraits taken over seven years by photographer Masanori Kamide.
